The idea for a mixed-use development on the Austin Street municipal parking lot emerged from the Newton’s Comprehensive Planning Process as a way to use underutilized City-owned land, create village housing, add vitality to the village center and create fiscal benefits for the village and City.  The site is a 74,000 square foot metered parking lot, zoned Mixed Use 4.

The City held a community meeting on Oct 30 at which all the bidders presented proposals.  Those proposals as well as answers to addition questions can be found on line at the city website at Austin Street proposals
